EFA
Essential oils are being used for the plant protection in agriculture since ancient times. EFA is a formulation of essential fatty acids that protects the plants from Bacteria, Fungi & Insects. The blend of essential fatty acids is readily soluble in water, making it easy for application. It also acts as a repellent for pests and larvae
- EFA forms a layer on the cuticle of leaves and controls the effect of fungal pathogens.
- The fatty acids and bioactive compounds present in these essential oils act as deterrent to oviposition’s, antifeedants, and also larvicides.
- The bioactive compounds are toxic to a vast range of insects and pests, damaging the respiratory and nervous systems.
- These bioactive compounds act as a fumigant and contact insecticide for major pests like whiteflies, aphids, termites, stemborers, etc.
- This combination of essential fatty acids also promotes the growth of plants.
- EFA is a highly emulsified formulation; it can be mixed easily and is 100% soluble in water.
Advantages of EFA: -
- Effectively controls the pests in major crops like spices, cereals, pulses, horticulture crops, and vegetables.
- Enhance the yield of crops due to the presence of nutrient elements in the oils.
- Apart from controlling pathogens, it provides resistance to the plants.
- Fatty acids of EFA help in enhancing soil aeration, increasing moisture retention, and also fighting drought stress.
